Studios is thrilled to announce that Pornsak Pichetshote, writer of the Eisner and Harvey Award-winning The Good Asian<\/em>, along with Eisner Award-nominated rising star artist Jesse Lonergan (Miss Truesdale and the Fall of Hyperborea<\/em>), and letterer Jeff Powell (Infidel<\/em>), are bringing an action-packed sci-fi romp with a lot of heart to the 2024 BOOM! Studios line-up with MAN\u2019S BEST<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Homeward Bound on an alien world, MAN\u2019S BEST<\/strong> follows three emotional support pets living on the Starship Horizon\u2013a spacecraft searching for a new home to house a humanity compromised by bad decisions and corporate greed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But after the ship crashes and the crew is captured, these loyal pets are their owner\u2019s only hope. Outfitted in outrageous tech, these three best friends must traverse a hostile world to rescue their owners\u2013leaving them the only hope for a humanity that might not be worth saving. In a harrowing adventure, the pets are faced with challenges that threaten to destroy their most valuable treasure: their friendship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s really weird to say a book about a cat in a mech suit, a golden retriever with a bionic leg, and a French bulldog with a rocket strapped to his back might be my most personal book ever, but\u2026that\u2019s kinda what happened? I\u2019ve never written anything where I can see recent realizations in my life directly incorporated onto the page as much as this book and have no idea how readers will respond. What I\u2019m a lot more confident in is how much of an honor it is to work with Jesse Lonergan. It\u2019s amazing how as a \u2018professional writer\u2019 I still have no words to explain how innovative his art keeps getting with each issue,\u201d said Pornsak Pichetshote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI feel like I\u2019ve gotten plenty of opportunities to do weird sci-fi stuff, but I haven\u2019t gotten the chance to draw as many cute things as I would like, so getting the opportunity to work on a book with pets battling across alien landscapes is really a dream come true, and then to have someone like Pornsak bringing a story with real depth and heart makes it that much better. This project has been intense, with the story consistently escalating. I find myself constantly challenged to raise the bar. The lazy part of me keeps telling the rest of me that there should be a section where I ease off and do some \u2018easy\u2019 pages, but it just hasn\u2019t happened yet,\u201d said Jesse Lonergan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Pornsak Pichetshote:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pornsak Pichetshote is a Thai-American Eisner and Harvey-winning writer of comics and TV. He began his career as a rising star editor at DC’s Vertigo imprint working on comics perennials such as Sandman <\/em>and Swamp Thing <\/em>before overseeing DC Entertainment\u2019s TV’s department, helping spearhead what would become the CW\u2019s Arrowverse of shows. As a comics writer, his work includes the books Infidel, The Good Asian<\/em>, and Sandman Universe: Dead Boy Detectives.<\/em> As a TV writer, he\u2019s worked on Marvel\u2019s Cloak & Dagger<\/em> for Freeform, Two Sentence Horror Stories<\/em> for the CW, Light as a Feather<\/em> for Hulu, and Green Lantern <\/em>for HBOMax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesse Lonergan is a comic book writer and artist (mostly an artist) with work published by IDW, Image, Dark Horse, Humanoids, and others. His first published work was Flower and Fade <\/em>in 2007 from NBM ComicsLit. His wordless comic Hedra <\/em>was nominated for an Eisner Award for best single issue in 202. Jesse was born in California, raised in Saudi Arabia and Vermont, and spent two years in Turkmenistan with the Peace Corps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
